SEO Management
Google makes algorithm changes at least once per day, on average. Who’s monitoring those changes for you?
Overwhelming Algorithm Changes
Experts estimate that Google updates its algorithm anywhere from 500 to 5000 times per year. With a bit of quick math, that comes out to 1.3 to 13 changes every day.
In other words, the SEO strategy you put in place yesterday could already be affected by an algorithm change. By next week, who knows?
Improving Your Rank
You don’t need us to tell you that your search engine ranking is crucial to your business. By extension, knowing—and understanding—all the latest algorithm changes is just as essential. Regular monitoring for several factors will help you maintain, and even increase, your rank.
These things need constant attention:
Monitor rankings, traffic, click-through rates, page views and more to determine which pages need additional attention.
Google hates broken links. More importantly, so do your website visitors. Search engine crawlers find dead ends, and website visitors turn to your competitors.
Local listings provide consistent backlinks for your business, as well as visibility to your potential customers. The more visible you are, the more likely you’ll find new buyers.
Outdated content on your website could confuse Google’s crawlers. With updated, accurate content and relevant keywords, you let search engines know your website is current.
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint
Absolutely nothing happens overnight with search engines. Anyone telling you otherwise cannot be trusted. New websites take at least two months to begin ranking, and that’s when you do everything correctly. Once you rank, you can’t afford to let your position slip. After all, the second page of Google search results receive 6% of all clicks in searches. You can bet that 6% goes to whoever’s at the top of the second page, too.
This really is a matter of “slow and steady wins the race.” Trying to game the system will result in penalties for black hat SEO tactics. And again, anyone who tells you otherwise cannot be trusted. Your only option is ongoing SEO maintenance.
