After delivering Mr P.‘s SS19 collection, MR PORTER is slated to launch a series of exclusive capsule collections titled, “The Japan Edit,” which spotlights silhouettes from some of Japan’s most influential designers in menswear.

Encompassing 122 pieces of apparel, footwear and accessories, the entire range features 15 brands, including AMBUSH, BEAMS Plus, NEIGHBORHOOD, Human Made, TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist., Needles, Hender Scheme and more. Each brand has essentially created an exclusive collection that interprets their signature aesthetics on Japanese style and culture.

Some of the notable pieces included are Blackmeans’ studded leather biker jacket, Wacko Maria x fragment’s zebra-print camp-collar shirt, Beams Plus x Kaptain Sunshine seersucker Harrington jacket, Mizuno’s Wave Creation running sneakers, NEIGHBORHOOD’s skull-embroidered distressed denim jacket and more.

Additionally, MR PORTER has launched a creative campaign to announce “The Japan Edit” with four distinct Japanese-inspired scenery — vibrant Tokyo nightlife, classic Tokyo architecture, traditional Japanese watering holes and the modern tea room — all of which were reimagined by artist Tishk Barzanji.

Daniel Todd, a buyer at MR PORTER explained, “We have invested in Japanese designers for quite some time now at MR PORTER and have had a very successful time with them as we know that Japanese brands resonate well with our global customer base. These capsule collections within The Japan Edit are the perfect way to pay tribute to brands who have been very supportive of MR PORTER since the beginning and to celebrate new designers we’ve just discovered.”

The Japan Edit enables MR PORTER “to showcase in-demand streetwear brands like Ambush and Human Made to extraordinary local craftsmen like Hender Scheme and Blackmeans which highlights the diverse spectrum of Japan’s artisans and designer community.”
